Overall Purpose:

Manufactures products by operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; organizing and monitoring work flow.
The machinist should be able to optimize day-to-day activities while minimizing the costs.
The goal is to ensure that production processes deliver products of maximum quality in a profitable manner.
Essential Job Functions & Expected Outcomes:
Your Accountabilities in the RoleReads part blueprints and part documentation to understand machining parameters and program; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T)Determines the process for machining the work-piece from print to partSelects, aligns, and secures work holding, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on CNC Swiss machinesOperates machine by loading and unloading parts and/or raw material and utilizing machine control panelAdjusts chucks, tools, attachments, collets, and vices as needed to maintain part quality and productivityCalculates and sets program to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow and depth and angle of cut, or enters commands to retrieve, input, or edit programMaintains specifications by observing operations, taking measurements, detecting malfunctions, troubleshooting processes, replacing worn tools, adhering to quality assurance procedures and processesVerifies conformance of finished work-piece to specifications using proper measurement tools and equipmentSets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programMaintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulationsDocuments actions by completing production and quality logsConfers with engineers, production manager, production supervisor, or others to resolve machining problemsMaintains safe and clean work environment by properly using all PPE, tools, equipment, and resources; maintains compliance with established policies and proceduresMaintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organizational quality standardsThe job criteria may include other duties, responsibilities and activities, which may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.

This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, electronic devices, photocopiers, filing systems/cabinets and fax machines.
Environmental Conditions & Travel:
The employee is regularly exposed to an office and manufacturing environment with moderate noise.
The employee is occasionally required to wear suitable Personal Protective Equipment while visiting manufacturing departments, such as safety glasses.

Technology Aptitude/Skills:
Proficient at Star, Spring, or Tsugami CNC machines (preferred)F.
